How we work

01

Service Discovery & Citizen Research

We map existing service delivery gaps, conduct interviews with front-line staff and service users, and review current digital touchpoints to understand where people are falling through the cracks.

02

Compliance & Standards Architecture

We review applicable legislation (ATIP, PIPEDA, provincial privacy acts), accessibility requirements (WCAG 2.1 AA), and Treasury Board digital standards before a single line of code is written.

03

Bilingual Content Strategy

We build bilingual (English/French) support from day one — not as an afterthought. Content management, routing, and UI are all designed for language parity.

04

Accessible Interface Development

We build to WCAG 2.1 AA. Every component is keyboard navigable, screen-reader tested, and colour-contrast verified. Accessibility is tested with real assistive technology users.

05

Integration with Government Systems

We integrate with existing government APIs, databases, and identity systems — including GCKey, Service Canada APIs, and provincial equivalents — with full security review.

06

Staged Rollout & Feedback Loop

We deploy in phases with analytics and feedback collection built in from the start. Post-launch iteration is planned and budgeted — not treated as an exception.

Compliance standards we build to

WCAG 2.1 AA

Full compliance for all public-facing interfaces — keyboard, screen reader, and contrast verified.

PIPEDA

Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act — federal privacy baseline.

Treasury Board Digital Standards

Government of Canada digital service design and open standards.

ATIP-Ready

Systems designed for Access to Information and Privacy request compliance.

Frequently asked questions

Are your platforms WCAG 2.1 AA compliant?

Yes — WCAG 2.1 AA compliance is a baseline requirement for every government project we take on. We test with automated tools (axe, Lighthouse), manual keyboard navigation, and real assistive technology users including screen reader testing on NVDA and VoiceOver.

Can you build bilingual (English/French) platforms?

Yes — we architect bilingual support from the first line of code. We use Next.js internationalization (i18n) routing and build content management systems that support parallel French and English content workflows.

Is all data stored on Canadian servers?

Yes — all government project data is hosted exclusively on AWS ca-central-1 (Montreal) or equivalent Canadian government-approved cloud infrastructure. We never route citizen data through US-based systems.

Can you integrate with GCKey or provincial identity systems?

Yes — we have experience integrating with GCKey and similar identity provider systems using SAML 2.0 and OAuth 2.0 protocols. Provincial identity systems vary and are assessed case-by-case.

How do you handle ATIP and privacy impact assessments?

We prepare privacy impact assessment (PIA) documentation and design systems with data minimization, consent management, and access logs built in. We work alongside your legal and privacy teams, not independently of them.

Do you work with municipalities, not just federal/provincial?

Yes — we work with municipal governments, school boards, public health units, and other public sector organizations. We are familiar with the different procurement and accountability requirements at each level.

Working on a public sector project?

We understand the constraints, compliance requirements, and real stakes of government digital work. Let's talk.
